Tour de France 2015: Route and stages

The 102nd Tour de France opened July 4th in Utrecht, The Netherlands, and after over 3,344 kilometres of racing the finish was in Paris on July 26th. The route certainly was a climber's dream, with Chris Froome outshining in the Pyrenees and he held off Nairo Quintana in the Alps.

Saturday, July 4, 2015 – The Grand Départ of the Tour de France is in Utrecht, centrally located in the Netherlands. Both start and finish are at Jaarbeurs for an individual time trial of 13.8 kilometres.

Utrecht (NL) - Neeltje Jans (NL)

Sunday, July 5, 2015 - The 2nd stage of the Tour de France leads in 166 kilometers from Utrecht to the artificial island of Neeltje Jans in Zeeland. The ride is as flat as you might expect in Holland, although riders probably will face the ‘Dutch Mountains’ – winds.

Antwerp (B) - Mur de Huy (B)

Monday, July 6, 2015 – It’s up to the puncheurs after a stage taking the riders in 154 kilometres from Antwerp to Huy. The riders are in Belgium and the finish at the Wall of Huy is notorious in the Flèche Wallonne with a steepest section of 19%.

Seraing (B) - Cambrai (cobbles)

Tuesday, July 7, 2015 - Cobblestones. Loved by some, hated by the rest of the pack. But no rider can avoid them during stage 4. The 221 kilometres stage between Cambrai and Seraing is the longest of the 2015 Tour. And with seven cobbled sections in prospect it certainly is not the easiest.

Arras - Amiens

Wednesday, July 8, 2015 - A mass sprint at the end of the 189 kilometres journey between Arras and Amiens seems almost inevitable. Few opportunities for the sprinters this Tour so escapees will no be giving too much space to maneuver.
