Tour de France 2015 Favourites stage 6 – Cross-winds and a punchy finale
Stage 6 takes the riders along the coast of Normandy, meaning two things: smashing pictures and chances of echelons. The roads may be flat, the sprinters teams should be alert as Etixx/Cavendish will be looking to make good use of cross-winds. Then again, the nasty arrival may be too nasty for Cav... Mark Cavendish is teamed up with the Belgian Etixx-QuickStep squad, famous for their wind-fetish. Just think of stage 13 in the 2013 Tour 2013 and you will get the picture. Kittel and his team were slaughtered and the Etixx/Tinkoff armada pulled of one of the most spectacular flat stages in recent years.
Still, Cavendish will not be without worries in stage 6 as the road goes up in the final 1.5 kilometres, suiting the likes of Sagan, Degenkolb and Matthews. The last one, however, still suffers badly from his crash in stage 3 and probably will not be ready to compete.
