Tirreno-Adriatico 2020 Route stage 2: Camaiore - Follinica

Tirreno-Adriatico stage 2Wednesday 9 September - The 2nd stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico amounts to 191 kilometres. The race from Camaiore to Follinica is likely to see a sprint finish.

Two years ago stage 2 also traveled from Camaiore to Follinica. At the end of a flat race Marcel Kittel powered to victory. Little did we know it would be his penultimate stage win. Four days later the German too another victory and that was it.

The route of this year’s 2nd stage is more lumpy, especially in the first part. The riders tackle a small climb once the flag is dropped and with 62 kilometres remaining the Tirreno-Adriatico moves through Sassetta, a village on a hill. To get there the road rises for almost 10 kilometres at shallow gradients.

Following the descent the route continues on the flat. The race concludes with a local round of 22 kilometres with a small kick-up inside the last 13 kilometres.

The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprint at kilometre 123.3 comes with 3, 2 and 1 seconds.
