Omloop Het Nieuwsblad 2024

Jan Tratnik won edition 79 of the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. The Slovene outsprinted Nils Politt, while Wout van Aert came home in third position. The race, which was played out on Saturday 24 February 2024, amounted to 202 kilometres and featured twelve ‘hellingen’.

Tratnik bests Politt in sprint-à-deux

Visma | Lease a Bike opens the race early, but still, the Omloop comes down to the last 10 kilometres. Following a regroupment it is Jan Tratnik who strikes. Nils Politt follows his move and the two hold off the chasing peloton before the Slovene outsprints the German.

The Route

Saturday 24 February - Omloop Het Nieuwsblad kicks off 2024's Classics Season. The 202 kilometres route features twelve hills, often cobbled, and nine flat stretches of pavé. The one-two punch up the Wall of Geraardsbergen and Bosberg inside the last 16 kilometres precedes a flat run-in to the line in Ninove.

Title holder Dylan van Baarle lines up with former winners Wout van Aert, Jasper Stuyven and Michael Valgren, while Jasper Philipsen, Kasper Asgreen, Julian Alaphilippe, Biniam Girmay, Arnaud De Lie and Tom Pidcock are also competing.
