Race report

Baptiste Veistroffer attacks from the start with Julen Arriolabengoa, Diego Uriarte, Samuel Fernández and Liam Slock. The peloton gives them the proverbial thumbs up, and the five quickly build a gap of 2 minutes, which then gradually widens to 3 minutes.

In the final 20 kilometres, two team mates remain at the front: Veistrofer and Slock. At the point, the peloton is still 1 minute in arrears. The two take turns at the front until Veistrofer has to let go. The peloton then brings back Slock under the flamme rouge.

Magnus Cort launches his sprint early. Actually, a bit too early, but the 21-year-old Frenchman Noa Isidore lacks the punch to beat the experienced Dane and finishes in his wheel.

Dorian Godon crosses the line in fourth and thus retains the overall lead, although Cort sits in second on the same time.
