Liège-Bastogne-Liège 2025: Dominant Pogacar solos to triumph

Race report
The breakaway riders are Sakarias Koller Løland, Valentin Retailleau, Mathis Le Berre, Hannes Wilksch, Stan Van Tricht, Jack Haig, Kamiel Bonneu, Eduardo Sepúlveda, Rayan Boulahoite, Ceriel Desal, Henri-François Renard-Haquin, and Johan Meens. The attackers open up a 6-minute lead.

The peloton reels them in with 60 kilometres remaining.

The bunch stays together up to La Redoute. Then Tadej Pogacar accelerates and immediately goes clear. Tom Pidcock and Ben Healy crest the climb in second and third place, closely followed by Thibau Nys, Julian Alaphilippe, Giulio Ciccone, Romain Grégoire, Ben Tulett, and Louis Barré

Alaphilippe and Ciccone join Pidcock and Healy, and the four reach the base of the Côte des Forges 45 seconds behind the World Champion. The gap steadily widens, and by the time they hit the Roche-aux-Faucons, it has stretched to over 1 minute.

Right at the bottom of the steep climb, Ciccone attacks, with Healy joining him shortly after. Together, they press on to battle for the remaining podium spots.

Over a minute after Pogacar crosses the line, Ciccone beats Healy in the sprint for second place. Moments later, Simone Velasco outguns Thibau Nys in the peloton sprint.
