La Flèche Wallonne Femmes 2026: Vollering dominates on the Mur de Huy

Race report

Lotte Claes and Malou Eissen attack ahead of the Côte de Courrière. Évita Muzic, Daniela Hezinova, Irati Aranguren, Viktória Chladoňová, Ricarda Bauernfeind, Mikayla Harvey, Erica Magnaldi, Heidi Franz and India Grangier give chase, but only manage to bridge across after dozens of kilometres of pursuit. By then, the race is at its halfway point.

Before entering the circuit, the peloton draws level again.

At the first passage over the Mur de Huy, Axelle Dubau-Prévot is riding solo at the front, while Katrine Aalerud later joins her. The two reach a maximum lead of 1 minute before being caught on the Côte de Cherave.

A peloton of around twenty riders tackles the Mur de Huy for the final time. Demi Vollering takes the lead, and behind her the group gradually thins out. On the steepest section, she opens up a ten-metre gap.

As the climb levels out in the final few hundred metres, she already looks certain of victory. Puck Pieterse launches a strong late charge, but ends up on her wheel. The Amstel Gold Race winner Paul Blasi crosses the line in third.
