Race report
Michael Leonard and Gil Gelders establish the breakaway in the last part of the first lap. Dries De Bondt tracks them down later, and the three open a gap of 5 minutes.
Matej Mohoric replaces De Bondt at the front with 50 kilometres remaining. The gap is under 1 minute at that point. Leonord can’t follow Mohoric’s pace and loses contact.
The attackers are caught in with three laps to go.
Tadej Pogacar strikes on the Côte Camillien-Houde with 24 kilometres to go. He opens a 30 seconds gap, and consolidates. Bart Lemmen, Julian Alaphilippe, Pello Bilbao, and Alex Aranburu are the first chasers at the base of the last Côte Camillien-Houde ascent. Bilbao shakes off the other three on the ascent.
Pogacar takes the win in Montréal for the second time in his career, while Bilbao comes home in second.
