Giro 2022: Route and stages

Jai Hindley won the 105th edition of the Giro d’Italia ahead of Richard Carapaz and Mikel Landa. The Australian won the Blockhaus stage on the end of the first week and climbed into pink on the last mountain stage. As always, most high altitude races were packed inside the final week. The 2022 Giro kicked into gear on Friday 6 May and finished on Sunday the 29th.

The Route

The Grande Partenza of the 105th Giro d’Italia took place on Friday 6 May in Hungary and the race finished in Verona on Sunday the 29th. The route added up to 3,445.6 kilometres with a total elevation gain of 50,580 metres.

Avola - Etna

Tuesday 10 May - The Giro traverses Sicily to finish on Mount Etna. The 172 kilometres race starts in Avola and features an elevation gain of 3,500 metres. The finish climb adds up to 22.8 kilometres and averages 6.6%.
