The 85th edition of Gent-Wevelgem is played out on Sunday 26 March. The race dates from 1934 and features cobbles, hills and unpaved roads. Opened by the E3 Harelbeke and followed by Dwars door Vlaanderen and the Tour of Flanders, Gent-Wevelgem is the second race in the so called Flemish Week. The four Classics are held within a ten days period. Usually, Gent-Wevelgem amounts to approximately 250 kilometres, while the race kicks into gear at the Grote Markt in Ypres. Biniam Girmay is title holder. Last year’s race came down to a four-up sprint in which the Eritrean outgunned Christophe Laporte, Dries Van Gestel and Jasper Stuyven.
