Edition 73 of Dwars door Vlaanderen – or, in English, Across Flanders – will be held on Wednesday the 28th of March 2018. The race amounts to 181 kilometres and the route features a lot of famous Flemish hills, so the race is a perfect preparation for the Tour of Flanders, which is held three days later. The last 22 kilometres feature the sharp climbs up Vossehol, Holstraat and Nokereberg, while the cobbles of the Herlegemstraat shake up the finale with 6.7 kilometres remaining. In 2017, Dwars door Vlaanderen took World Tour status for the first time in its existence. After a late attack Yves Lampaert soloed to victory ahead of Philippe Gilbert and Alexey Lutsenko.
Last year’s route was longer and tougher, amounting to 203 kilometres and taking in the iconic duo Oude Kwaremount/Paterberg in the last 35 kilometres.
