Liège-Bastogne-Liège Femmes 2026: Vollering solos to victory from La Redoute

Race report

On the false flat towards the highest point of the day, the Baraque de Fraiture, Femke Gerritse goes on the attack. She opens a maximum lead of over 2 minutes before being caught just before the Côte de la Haute-Levée.

The race explodes on La Redoute as Demi Vollering takes the initiative and she crests the summit 10 seconds ahead of Isabella Holmgren, Puck Pieterse, Kasia Niewiadoma and Niamh Fisher-Black. The European champion doubles her lead on the following rise to Cornémont.

As Vollering powers on without looking back, Fisher-Black is dropped from the chasing group, after which he race leader crests the Roche-aux-Faucons 1 minute and 10 seconds ahead of Holmgren, Pieterse and Niewiadoma.

At 10 kilometres from the finish, Anna van der Breggen catches the trio and immediately takes the lead. Which proves too much for Isabella Holmgren, who is dropped.

The victory is never in danger after La Redoute for Demi Vollering, and she goes on to win her third Classic of the season, after the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Tour of Flanders and La Flèche Wallonne. A minute and a half later, Puck Pieterse sprints to second place, with Kasia Niewiadoma crossing the line in third.
