Javier Romo and Juan Ayuso pull away from the other attackers on the final climb, the Collada de Brenes, with just over 22 kilometres remaining. In Los Corrales del Buelna, Ayuso bests his compatriot in the sprint, while the GC remains unchanged, leaving Jonas Vingegaard in the red jersey.

Vuelta 2025 Route stage 12: Laredo – Los Corrales del Buelna

Thursday, 4 September - At 144.9 kilometres, the 12th stage of the Vuelta a España takes the riders from Laredo to Los Corrales de Buelna. The route packs in nearly 2,400 metres of climbing, with elevation gain spread across minor climbs and two KOM ascents, the last of which comes with 22.9 kilometres remaining.

The riders face a 144.9-kilometre course with 2,993 metres of climbing in La Vuelta's 12th stage. Most of the climbing comes in three ascents, while the rest of the route is largely rolling terrain. All in all perfect for a successful breakaway.
