   Finishing second behind Tadej Pogacar, Nairo Quintana extends his lead in the points classification. Primoz Roglic now sits in second, while Sam Bennett drops back to fifth.

   La Vuelta serves five climbs on stage 9, while the route is merely 94.4 kilometres long. Hails and storms mark the finale and 20-years old Tadej Pogacar climbs to victory. Nairo Quintana is the new race leader.

   The 9th stage is, with five ascents, a feast for climbers. Obviously, it is a huge day for riders eyeing the mountains classification. KOM leader Madrazo is not in the breakaway, but he holds on to the polka dots.
