   Hugo Houle attacks from the breakaway in the run-up to the steep Mur de Péguère. He holds off the chasers and solos to triumph. Jonas Vingegaard keeps the maillot jaune, despite several Tadej Pogacar attacks.

2. Tour de France 2022 Route stage 16: Carcassonne - Foix

   Tuesday 19 July - The third week of the Tour de France opens with a transition stage of 178.5 kilometres to Foix. The town in the foothills of the Pyrenees has been the end station of successful breakaways on several occassions.

3. Tour de France 2022 Favourites stage 16: Winning on descent

   The 16th stage on the Tour de France serves two tough climbs in the last 60 kilometres before finishing on descent. Although the stage win might as well go to a GC contender.

   Arguably, stage 16 is a perfect warm-up race ahead of the Pyrenees giants of the coming days. Simon Geschke scores 12 points to cement his KOM lead.
