Michael Matthews was expected to lose the pink jersey today. Instead, he found himself with an opportunity to win the stage, and took it with both hands. Evans was the big winner on GC.

Thursday, May 15th – An extremely long ride awaits the riders and due to a landslide that's to be negotiated it's even 10 kilometres longer. Stage 6 is 257 kilometres long finishing with the second summit finish in as may days. The bunch touch the gorgeous Amalfi coast as they ride close to Naples.

Another summit finish after a long but reasonably flat ride. An 8.5 kilometre drag that should suit an explosive climber.

Stage 6 travels from Sassano to Montecassino. A long ride of 247 kilometres with a very tough finale.
