Race report
Pierre Rolland attacks on the Col de Leyrisse, while Laurens Huys and Maxime Bouet track him down after the summit. The trio puts more more than 3 minutes into the peloton.
Rolland is also the first rider over the Côte des Baraques and Côte du Chambon de Bavas.
The peloton speeds op the Côte du Chambon de Bavas and a lot of sprinters lose contact. Rolland extends his KOM lead at the summit, while the peloton is trailing at 25 seconds.
Simon Geschke and Kobe Goossens give it a go when the attackers are brought back. Mikel Honoré joins them to head out alone. The Dane's solo ends with 22 kilometres remaining.
Wout van Aert outguns Ethan Hayter in the ensuing peloton sprint to move into the overall race lead.
