Race report
Yoann Bagot attacks from the gun. Initially he is the only one, but after a few kilometres Stéphane Rossetto bridges across before Alessandro De Marchi rounds out the lead group. The trio carves out a lead of more than 3 minutes before the peloton takes the reins.
De Marchi goes alone inside the last 2 kilometres before he is caught under the flamme rouge. Gilbert and Bo Hagen are the first to overhaul him and they open up a gap. The two are brought back inside the last 400 metres and then it’s the Wout Van Aert show. He wins his second stage in a row with a comfortable margin.
Adam Yates leads the overall with three Alpine days ahead.
