Race report
Annelies Nijssen is up for it. The 23-year-old Belgian is the first attacker of the day and rides to a 30-second lead. She is then joined by Nicole Steigenga, Kiara Lylyk, Heide Franz and Scarlett Souren. They open up a maximum lead of over 3 minutes.

On the Keutenberg, Kiara Lylyk and Scarlett Souren are dropped from the break, while the other three area caught on the circuit.

Attacks keep coming thick and fast, but nobody manages to get away. The peloton does thin out significantly, though. Lorena Wiebes is among the dropped riders on the penultimate ascent of the Cauberg, after which Marianne Vos struggles on the Geulhemmerberg. The two-time winner manages to rejoin when the pace eases on the approach to the Bemelerberg.

Soon after, the action intensifies again and on the penultimate ascent of the Cauberg, Nienke Vinke and Paula Blasi are out in front. The Spaniard then presses on alone and hears the bell for the final lap ring out half a minute before what remains of the peloton.

Second by second, she extends her lead. She reaches the top of the Bemelerberg more than a minute ahead of the peloton, and that is still her advantage as she hits the Cauberg.

Kasia Niewiadoma opens the chase on the final climb of the day with Demi Vollering on her wheel, but it is too little, too late. The 23-year-old Spaniard finishes her solo effort in triumphant style.
