Giro 2020 Favourites stage 20: Battle for pink

The last mountain stage of the Giro is 190 kilometres and features almost 4,000 vertical metres. Not as hard as the Giro stage over the Stelvio, but still, a huge battle for the pink jersey is to be expected.

On paper, maglia rosa Wilco Kelderman is a stronger time trialist than Tao Geoghegan Hart, so INEOS Grenadiers should put pressure on the Dutchman. The second part of the race is harder, although the course is by no means comparable to the original course with 5,500 vertical metres.

The first 110 kilometres are predominantly flat before a prolonged false flat continues onto the first climb of the day. After the 9.2 kilometres ascent at 5.4% the riders tackle a 26 kilometres circuit around Sestriere twice. The finish climb is 8 kilometres long and the gradients hovers between 6 and 7%.

The fight for the maglia rosa is expected to ignite early.
