Giro 2020 Favourites stage 21: For pure ITT specialists

The Giro d'Italia serves a flat time trial on the last day of action. The 16.5 kilometres route is tailor made for riders who can push a big gear.

The course is perfect for pure ITT specialists. In his glory days as a time trialist this would have been an easy catch for Tony Martin. The four-time World Champion stepped into the role of a super-domestique when he came to Jumbo-Visma and, what’s more, he pulled out of the Giro.

Victor Campenaerts is a legitimate favourite. The two-time European time trial champion has been aiming to win a Grand Tour stage for years.

Then again, Filippo Ganna is a much more likely candidate. The Italian represents the future and the present of time trialing. He is the reigning World Champion and he is on fire this Giro, winning both a stage for climbers and time trials.

Rohan Dennis is probably the only rider who is able to match Ganna. He is on fire the last few days, so why not.
