Race report
Miguel Ángel López is busy in the early stages of the race. He is among the first attackers and he wins the first intermediate sprint, while he forms the breakaway with Daniel Jaramillo, Juan Esteban Arango, Byron Guama, Freddy Montana and Miguel Rubiano. The six put 2 minutes into the peloton and López pockets 5 more bonus seconds in the following two intermediate sprints.
The leaders are reeled in with 15 kilometres remaining. Following a lot of movement in the finale the race seems to come down to a sprint of a small group, but Bob Jungels opts for a different scenario. He attacks in the last kilometre and powers on alone. The Luxembourger holds off the chasing peloton to win the stage and take the overall lead.
