UAE Tour 2020 Route stage 1: Dubai - Dubai

UAE Tour 2020Sunday 23 February - The UAE Tour kicks off with a 148 kilometres race from Palm Jumeirah in Dubai City to Silicon Oasis, a suburb boasting tech and innovation. The route is perfect for sprinters.

The riders clip in their pedals near shoppingmall The Pointe on Palm Jumeirah island and set off to the Quadra Cycle Track outside the city. Following a lap on the track the route continues to Lehbab before returning to Dubai City.

The finish is in Silicon Oasis, a technology park that aims to become Dubai’s equivalent of Silicon Valley.

The route is extremely flat, so a bunch sprint is next to certain. Last year’s UAE Tour saw four sprint finishes. Not one rider managed a double win. Fernando Gaviria, Caleb Ewan, Elia Viviani and Sam Bennett – they all won one race.

The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while two intermediate sprints – at kilometre 46.3 and kilometre 111.6 – come with 3, 2 and 1 seconds.
