Race report
Following a number of early moves a group of 32 riders jumps off the front after 40 kilometres of hard racing. Thomas de Gendt, Rigoberto Uran, Daniel Martin, LL Sánchez, Matej Mohoric, Marc Soler are some of the big group. The leaders enter the Montjuïc circuit more than 4 minutes ahead of the peloton.

De Gendt strikes on the first climb towards Montjuïc Castle. Mohoric tracks him down in the descent and the duo crosses the line with a 40 seconds lead, which they widen in the ensuing laps.

Bouwman is trying to bridge across in the penultimate lap en he crosses the line 1 minute behind the two leaders.

De Gendt leaves Mohoric behind on the last climb to the castle to solo to victory.

Adam Yates finishes safely in the peloton. He wins the Volta a Catalunya ahead of Richie Porte and Geraint Thomas.
