Race report
Rémi Cavagna and Matej Mohoric attack in the descent of the Coll de Comiols. Behind them the peloton splits in two. Thymen Arensman and Ide Schelling are the first riders to bridge across from the first peloton, while Davide de la Cruz, Atilla Valter, Bob Jungels, Marc Soler, James Knox and Omer Goldsteun rejoin the leaders with 83 kilometres remaining.
The other 36 riders in the first peloton are 30 seconds behind the leaders when they move through Manresa for the first time. Cavagna does not wait for the imminent regrouping and goes solo.
Just before the Frenchman reaches the summit of the last climb, Port de Montserrat, Bizkarra and Reichenbach catch him. Moments later another group of chasers rejoins the race lead.
Kämna, Kruijswijk and Verona push on with three. The Spaniard goes again once they are caught, but Kruijswijk, Uran and Gesbert catch him in the last 10 kilometres. More riders bridge across before Kämna goes again.
Perfect timing by the German, and he solos to victory.
The peloton crosses the line 2 minutes later. Adam Yates remains the overall race leader, with his team mates Porte and Thomas in second and third.
