Race report
Sylvain Moniquet and Natnael Berhane jump off the front after 13 kilometres of hard racing before Gotzon Martín and Rein Taaramäe bridge across. The four carve out a maximum lead of more than 4 minutes.
Moniquet heads out alone on the Port de Santa Fe del Montseny. The young Belgian is the first rider at the top to take the KOM jersey. Moments later he is caught by the peloton.
A group with Lennard Kämna, Andreas Kron, Rémy Rochas and LL Sánchez jumps clear inside the last 25 kilometres. The four reach the summit of the last climb, Port de Collsacreu, 35 seconds ahead of the main group.
The peloton seems so happy with a four-up sprint in Calella. And Kron does not complain. The young Dane outguns LL Sánchez on the line to take his first UCI WorldTour victory plus the leader’s jersey as a bonus.
