Stage report
After 22 kilometres of racing Veuchelen, Warbasse, Hollenstein, Thurau, Deignan and Meyer are off. The gap grows to around 5 minutes and it stays like that for a while, but with 23 kilometres and one categorised col left it’s down to 2’35″. Veuchelen has had to drop by then.
At Brunig Pass Deignan and Warbasse leave their companions alone, but Meyer is strong and returns to the front. The three of them are chased by the peloton in the last few kilometres, still it’s up to the strongmen. Cameron Meyer outsprints his early break away friends.
The bunch finishes 0’14″ down mainly thanks to the yellow jersey of Tony Martin. The German took the whole peloton with him on a ferocious chase and starts as leader tomorrow.
