Race report
Peter Sagan is an early starter today and finishes in 14’07″, the best time for quite a while. Last year’s GC runner up Bauke Mollema is 0’03” down on the Slovak, which proves to be a good time given his overall ambitions. Other contenders like Bradley Wiggins, Roman Kreuziger, Matthias Frank, Thibaut Pinot and defending champion Rui Costa all fail in improving the Dutchman’s 14’10”.
24-Year old Aussie Rohan Dennis is the first to be faster than Sagan and then it’s up to der Pantzerwagen. Tony Martin is by far the fastest, the only rider coming ‘a sort of near’ is Tom Dumoulin at 6 seconds. Of the GC riders only Domenico Pozzovivio improves on Mollema, taking 0’03”.
