Giro Rosa 2018 Stage 6: Mountain top victory brings Amanda Spratt maglia rosa
The 6th stage offers the first mountain top finish of the 2018 Giro Rosa. Following almost 100 kilometres on the flat, the last 15 kilometres climb at 5.4%. Amanda Spratt goes alone with 4 kilometres left and solos to victory. Annemiek van Vleuten finishes in second, 29 seconds down on the Australian, who takes the pink jersey. (Slideshow route/profile)

Race report
Despite some skirmishes early on the peloton remains bunched until the foot of the haul up to Gerona Alta. The group fractures on the climb and maglia rosa Ruth Winder can’t follow the pace with 8 kms to climb.
Some 4 kms before the top the main group is down to Spratt, Van Vleuten, Niewiadoma, Moolman and Garcia when Spratt attacks to go solo. She distances her companions to climb to victory. She propels into the maglia rosa because she wins the race 29 seconds ahead of Van Vleuten, while Winder drops to second place with Van Vleuten now in third overall.
