The rolling route never falls below 800 metres and never exceeds 1,000 metres. Doubtlessly, the sun will be scorching hot on Castilian plains around Burgos. The riders are traversing the southern part of the province.
Sprinters could easily get ahead of themselves on a course like this, but the race is 163 kilometres long and not 162. Roa de Duero is situated on a plateau. The last kilometre climbs for 500 metres at 6% to the home straight.
