The race sets off from Rovereto to follow the Adige downstream, only to cross the river and continue on the other side upstream. The route is flat until Loppio, at the base of the Passo Bordala, after 40 kilometres in the saddle.
The Bordala adds up to 15 kilometres and the average gradient sits as 6.3%. The climb is pepped up with several double digit ramps.
A 6 kilometres descent leads onto a false flat of 2 kilometres along the shores of Lake Cei. The riders then plunge down to Aldeno before entering a mountainous lap of 31 kilometres.
After 10 kilometres on the flat the Giro Donne returns via a different route to Lake Cei. The road on this side of the mountain climbs 9.3 kilometres at an average gradient of 7.7%.
The riders re-enter the original route just before the lake. So, the finale is familiar – first a false flat, than a descent. The downhill is almost 10 kilometres long.
The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds.
