The Giro Donne started last year with a team time trial (Trek-Segafredo triumph), while the only individual time trial was won by Anna van der Breggen. That course was the opposite of the Cagliari prologue, as the road was climbing from start to finish.
Nothing like that on the first day of the 2022 Giro Donne. The route is as flat as can be and bike handling is not really necessary either. One U-turn and two 90 degrees turns, that’s all. So it’s a matter of 4.7 kilometres of pushing the biggest gear possible.
