UAE Tour 2021 Route stage 6: Dubai - Dubai
Friday 26 February - At 168 kilometres, the 6th stage of the UAE Tour winds its way through Dubai. Starting at the Deira Islands, the flat route finishes at Palm Jumeirah.
Stage 6 takes place entirely in Dubai. The riders click into their pedals in the north of the emirate, at the Deira Islands, a project off the coast of Deira.
The riders zigzag their way through Dubai and penetrate the desert to join the Al-Qudra Cycle Track after approximately 60 kilometres. After traversing the Dubai desert for awhile, they return to the Persian Gulf for a sprint finish at the Palm Jumeirah Island.
Palm Jumeirah Island saw sprint finishes at the Dubai Tour on several occasions. Dylan Groenewegen (2018), Marcel Kittel (2017) and Elia Viviani (2016, 2015) – they all were victorious on the iconic spot.
The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while two intermediate sprints – at kilometre 70 and at kilometre 106.2 – come with 3, 2 and 1 seconds.
The race is expected to finish around 16.30 local time.
