Tour de Romandie 2021: Soler solos to leader’s jersey

Race report
It’s raining cats and dogs when the riders get underway and it will be wet for the rest of the day. Patrick Bevin, second in the GC, DNS.
Stefan Küng, Sander Armée, Matthias Reutimann, Stefan Bissegger, Charles Quarterman, Kobe Goossens, and Johan Jacobs join forces after 20 kilometres. The seven carve out a lead of more than 4 minutes.
Küng and Goossens head out together in the last lap, while the Swiss champion crashes in the wet descent of the first of the last two climbs. GC leader also goes down in the same descent.
Goossens enters the last climb with a 30 seconds lead, but the peloton brings him back in the last kilometre. Soler counterattacks en he reaches the crest solo.
The Spaniard pushes on, not only winning the race, but also moving into the overall race lead.
