Tour de Romandie 2021 Route stage 1: Aigle - Martigny

Tour de RomandieWednesday 28 April - Following the prologue on day one the Tour de Romandie continues with a mountainous test of 166.3 kilometres.

The UCI is based in Aigle. The town of 8,000 is used to visiting pro-cycling pelotons, although is has been a while since the Tour de Romandie last visited. Four years ago Fabio Feline won the prologue in Aigle.

The Tour de Romandie’s 1st stage uses parts of the original World Championships course of 2020. The race didn’t take place in Aigle/Martigny however. Due to COVID-19 the 2020 Worlds took place in Imola.

The route covers the circuit that would have been ridden during Worlds road race in Switzerland. Half-way round the 19.4 kilometres loop the riders tackle the Côte de la Petite Forclaz, a 4 kilometres climb at 10.2% with ramps up to 14.5%. Each lap takes in an elevation gain of 478 metres

More to follow once the route of the 2021 Tour de Romandie has been announced.
