Tour de Romandie 2021 Route prologue: Oron-la-Ville

The Tour de Romandie sets off with a 3.8 kilometres prologue in Oron-la-Ville. The riders go up and down a sharp climb to the local castle.

The Tour de Romandie almost always opens with prologue. In the last ten editions these riders stormed to victory: Jan Tratnik (2019), Michael Matthews (2018), Fabio Felline (2017), Ion Izagirre (2016) en Michal Kwiatkowski (2014), Chris Froome (2013), Geraint Thomas (2012), and Jonathan Castroviejo (2011).

Missing a year? Right, 2015. Unusually, the Tour de Romandie began with a team time trial, which was won by Team Sky.

The course of the Oron-la-Ville prologue is very straightforward. The riders climb to Oron Castle and return to the village. But is a challenging uphill – roughly 1 kilometre and with an average gradient of 8%.
