Race report
Shortly after the start a Hugo Houle, Davide Ballerini, Raffaello Bonusi, Mirco Maestri, Alan Marangoni and Charles Planet jump clear. They race to a maximum advantage of almost 6 minutes, yet the escapees are caught with 27 kms remaining.
With 5 kms left Geraint Thomas goes on the attack and he soloes to victory. Tom Dumoulin doesn’t manage to chase the Welshman down and finishes in second, a few metres ahead of Peter Sagan, who outsprints the pack. Greg Van Avermaet comes in fourth to take the leaders jersey.
