Giro Rosa 2016 Stage 9: De Jong solos to victory, Guarnier takes overall
The closing stage of the Giro Rosa is played out near the Laggo Maggiore on a hilly circuit. In the finale Thalita de Jong attacks from the break of the day to solo to victory, while Megan Guarnier's GC-win is not endangered. (Slideshow route/profile)

Race report
At the first climb De Jong, Drexel, Santesteban, Guitierrez, Kitchen, Confalinieri, Bravard, Markus and Hagwara break clear. They race to a maximum lead at almost 6 minutes.
Thalita de Jong goes solo with around 10 kms left. She pushes on to take an impressive victory.
Megan Guarnier finishes safely in the pack and wins the 2016 Giro Rosa.
