Race report
Fabien Doubey attacks in the descent of the first climb, Col des Ecorbans. Jan Bakelants and Sebastian Schönberger track him down straight away, while Pierre Rolland and Benjamin Thomas bridge across in a 15 kilometres chase. Rolland cements his KOM lead on the Côte de Dun before he sits up and waits for the bunch.
The leaders reach a maximum advantage of 3 minutes, which falls to 35 seconds on the last climb of the day. Dylan Groenewegen has been dropped.
The charging peloton catches the attackers 200 metres before the line. Wout van Aert crowns Christophe Laporte’s lead out and bests his compatriot Jordi Meeus on the line.
The Belgian Champion cements his GC lead, more than 1 minute ahead of Mattia Cattaneo.
