World Cycling Championships 2016 Doha, Qatar: Favourites Road Race – women
Like all other race at the Worlds in Qatar, the road race for women is played out on a flat route. Cyclingstage.com takes a look at the favourites to win the rainbow jersey.
Women’s races are not as controlled as men’s races, yet chances are the road race at the World Cycling Championships in Doha will boil down to a bunch sprint. Chloe Hosking is among the fastest women in the peloton. She took a bunch sprint in Giro Rosa, the most important stage race for women. She also powered to victory in La Course, the one day women’s race that’s played out ahead of the closing stage of the Tour de France at the Champs-Élysées.
Other fast women are Tiffany Cromwell and Giorgia Bronzini. And let’s not forget about Marianne Vos. This year, the ‘Jacqueline of all trades’ is back in the peloton after an injury. In the past, she already pocketed three road race world titles.
Update: Bronzini does not participate due to illness.
