Tour of the Alps 2020 Route stage 3: Imst – Naturns

Tour of te Alps 2020 stage 3Wednesday 22 April - Stage 3 on the Tour of the Alps features three climbs. The last one is short and sharp and crested with 18 kilometres remaining.

The race sets off from Imst and following a short initial circuit the route leads to the foot of the Reschen Pass, which is a 16 kilometres climb into Italy. On wide straight roads and at shallow gradients, this ascent is not very challenging. On their right the riders will see the steeple of a submerged 14th-century church in Lake Reschen

The route descends into Glorenza to tackle a more demanding uphill in the mountains above the Val Venosta. The 10 kilometres ascent slopes at approximately 6%. In the descent the riders move through Alitz and back in the valley in Lasa the route continues further downhill to Castelbello.

With 21.9 kilometres to go the last ascent of the day appears. The 3 kilometres climb at 7% leads to the village Tarres before descending back to Lasa. The last 15 kilometre of the race are a false flat run-in to to the finish in Naturns.

The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprint at kilometre 56 comes with 3, 2 and 1 seconds.
