Race report
Patrick Bevin, Michael Storer, Jason Lea and Artyom Zakharov are the first attackkers on this year’s UCI WorldTour. Altough Zakharov later drops back to the peloton, the leaders race to a maximum lead of 4 minutes. Bevin and Storer both take 5 bonus seconds, while Lea pockets the KOM points underway.
The trio is brought back with 38 kilometres remaining.
While Caleb Ewan and Peter Sagan both get boxed in, Max Walscheid opens up the sprint. Yet, Elia Viviani storms to the front through a small opening on the left side of the road to take the win.
