Ruta del Sol 2021 Route stage 4: Iznájar - Cúllar Vega

Saturday 20 February - The 4th stage of the Ruta del Sol looks promising for the sprinters. On the rolling plains of central Andalucía the riders travel from Iznájar to Cúllar Vega, just west of Granada. The race amounts to 153.9 kilometres.

Iznájar also hosted last year’s Ruta del Sol, or Vuelta a Andalucía. It served as a finish in the 2nd stage. Gonzalo Serrano attacked on the punchy climb up into the town and held off the peloton to take the best win of is career.

A similar finale is not going to happen in Cúllar Vega. Although the Sierra Nevada looms to the east the area is as good as flat. So a bunch sprint is the most likely outcome in the town of 7,100 people.

The last bunch sprints in the Vuelta a Andalucía happened two editions ago. In 2019, Matteo Trentin took the spoils in Alhaurín de la Torre and in Torredonjimeno.
