Ruta del Sol 2021: The Route
The Ruta del Sol - a.k.a. the Vuelta a Andalucía - starts today to finish this Saturday. The Queen Stage is played out on Thursday.
The 1st stage is played out on lumpy terrain before the finale features a punchy finish climb.
Stage 2 serves more of the same, yet slightly tougher. The finale includes the Alto de la Hortichuela – 8.3 kilometres at 5.4% – before a wall-like climb to the line.
The Queen Stage includes six climbs on a route with an elevation gain of more than 4,600 metres. Uphill finish on a 6.7 kilometres ascent at 4.8%.
The 4th stage should see a fast finishers showdown before the final stage is played out on hilly terrain. The last climb – 6.9 kilometres at 3.9% – is crested with 5.5 kilometres remaining.
