Giro 2022 Favourites stage 6: For fast men#3

The parcours is predominantly flat. Only a gentle 17 kilometres in the first quarter of the route. So that should be no problem for the sprinters. Possibly, cross winds could pep things up a little, as most of the race runs along the coast.

Last year’s Giro saw four fast finsishers showdowns. Tim Merlier and Giacomo Nizzolo both scored one stage win, while Caleb Ewan took two.

Winning 18 times on the Giro, Mark Cavendish is by far the most succesful sprinter on the start list. Arnaud Démare won six stages in the Italian Grand Tour, Caleb Ewan five. By the way, for Cavendish’ last Giro stage win before his victory on day three of this edition we have to go back to… 2013.
