Race report
Diego Rosa is the first rider who attempts to break away after more than 20 kilometres. The Italian opens up a maximum gap of more than 5 minutes.
The peloton makes the catch with 28 kilometres remaining.
Cavendish opens strong in the ensuing sprint, but Ewan overhauls him in the last 50 metres. The Australian seems to be heading for the win until Démare bests him with an ultimate jump to the line.
López stays in the GC lead.
