Giro 2021 Route stage 18: Roveretto - Stradella
Thursday 27 May - Stage 18 of the Giro d'Italia takes place on the Plain of the Po. The first 200 kilometres live entirely up to that name, but the last 31 kilometres serve three short ascents.
Under normal circumstances, the race is perfect for a bunch sprint, but since the riders are three weeks into the Giro the dynamics could change. Last year shortened (and pan flat) 19th stage was won from the breakaway by Josef Cerny.
The inclinations are nowhere near steep, let alone long. The length is hovering between 2 and 3 kilometres, while the gradients peak out at 4%.
The second intermediate sprint comes with 3, 2 and 1 seconds, while time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds are awarded to the first three riders on the line.
