World Cycling Championships 2022: Route Mixed Relay
Wednesday 21 September - The Mixed Relay is a time trial with mixed teams. Nations enter six riders, three men and three women, and the team that crosses the line quickest after 28.2 kilometers of racing with 264 metres of climbing wins.
The route of the Mixed Relay is a carbon copy of the ITTs with the exception of a part on the north side of Wollongong. The individual riders come down Elliotts Road and turn onto Carters Lane to return via Marlo Road and Pioneer Road. This outing is not included in the Mixed Relay. Instead the teams turn right onto Squires Way in the direction of Wollongong.
This way, the two laps add up to roughly 14 kilometres each. The 700 metres climb at 6.7% on Dumfries Avenue is the only real obstacle. It appears around the midway marker in each lap.
There are three intermediate time checks – at kilometre 7.1, 14.1, and 21.1.
