The race starts in Aigle and the riders follow the Rhône upstream in southerly direction. Most vertical metres are situated in the first half. While predominantly running on gently rolling terrain, the route offers two serious uphill tests. After 11 kilometres the road climbs a 600 metres incline at 10% and a few kilometres later the road rises for 3 kilometres at 7%.
After this last climb there are more than 17 kilometres left to race. This part of the route is virtually flat.
Cloé Dygert crushed her opponents on last year’s (hillier) course in Yorkshire. Former World Champions Anna van der Breggen and Annemiek van Vleuten rounded out the podium.
The first rider rolls down the start ramp at 14.20 and the expected finish of the last one, title defender Dygert, is around 16.40 uur – both are local times.
