Vuelta 2021 Favourites stage 2: Fast finishers showdown

foto: Cor VosSuffering in the climbs is usually the main activity of the sprinters at La Vuelta. Not in this edition though. The first chance to shine appears as early as the second day.

The 2nd stage travels from Caleruega to Burgos. The riders traverse the Meseta Central to the south of Burgos without seeing too many obstacles. The roads are flat or slightly undulating. Just as the sprinters prefer it.

Last year, Pascal Ackermann powered to two stage wins, which made him the most sucessful sprinter of that edition. Two years ago, both Sam Bennett and Fabio Jakobsen took two wins.

It was the first Grand Tour of the Dutch sprinter. After his horror crash in last year’s Tour de Pologne, the current Vuelta is his second Grand Tour.
